Ma Lor, a junior, is being recognized for her outstanding and dedicated efforts as an election judge this year. Because of her outstanding performance, she will be leading the Minnesota Legislature in their pledge of allegiance before they officially count the 10 electoral votes from Minnesota.
“[Lor] is being recognized because of her double student election judge shift, her dedicated consistent efforts, her kind and polite interaction with the voters, [and] her willingness and skill helping with Hmong translation” explained social studies teacher Doug Berglund.
“It was interesting to have a new experience in my community” said Lor. “It was fun to be there all day and talk and communicate with all the people.”
Lor volunteered for an outstanding 12 hours, a double shift, on election day, while not only checking in voters, but also translating Hmong for those who needed it. Lor already signed up to do it next year, and said “I hadn’t thought about anything related to politics, but after doing this, I might think about going there.”
