Girls basketball starts the season off on the right foot
There was a girls varsity basketball game last Tuesday on the 6th. The game went very well for South. Only seven minutes into the first half South had a heavy lead with a score of 18-2.
For the first half almost all of the players had scored at least eight points, and Morgan Hill in the end scored the most points overall. At the end of the game South had almost triple Southwest’s points with the score being 65-23.
10th grade Soloana Cushing stated that she “Thought the game went well.” She believes “I think it’s important to make a statement against the other teams in our conference.” But thought the game could have gone better. “I think we should’ve played more out in the lanes on defense, I think we could’ve gotten a lot more steals and fast break points.” She believes that something the team did best was “Sharing the ball, I thought in the second half especially, we really got out in the court and were unselfish with it.”
The coach Nathan Mcguire also believes the team has “jumped out to a fast start. We currently have three wins including two statement wins.” In short this basketball season has been going well for South.
