The South High Boys’ Varsity Soccer team has taken home a win after defeating Roosevelt at their last home game. They beat the Roosevelt soccer team with a score of 4-2. Even though they won South’s team coach was given a yellow card because not everyone on the team was wearing black socks. Nevertheless, it has been a successful and memorable season for the team as it was their last home game at South. “It was a good win for the team and much-needed beating Roosevelt at home on our last home game of the year,” said the boys’ team manager, Hamza Ahmed.
Throughout the season, the team went through some challenging times as their team captain, Lewi Linville, has been battling an injury but made his way back up during Super Soccer Saturday when he scored the penalty when they were down to tie with the Richfield Spartans. As they finish their final year at South, this year’s varsity team included a huge percentage of seniors. Ahmed and Linville hope to make the most of it as their last years on the team have come to an end. “My hope for the team is that South gets better and I believe the team will do good next year,” said Ahmed. Linville hopes that the team will get better in the coming years. “My hope for the team is that South gets better and I believe the team will do good next year.”
