Annika Lara Walen is entering her first year in newspaper as a junior. During her time at the Southerner she hopes to learn the process of writing for a newspaper as well as the writing process in general. Lara Walen wants to write about issues such as the recent budget cuts, the new rules and policies at South and she would like to start the Southerner’s first advice column. She cares a lot about the environment, her friends and family, and money, both for herself and for education!

Outside of school she is a multi-sport athlete, participating in soccer, basketball, and track in addition to being a part of the environmental club at south. She enjoys listening to and making live music, backpacking, and being outside.
